AIKO unveils INFINITE ULTRA G4 and the new Z Series: ABC technology reaches 690 W

AIKO continues to push BC (Back Contact) technology to new levels of power and efficiency with the launch of its fourth-generation INFINITE ULTRA platform and the new Z Series at Intersolar Europe 2026.

The latest development of ABC (All Back Contact) technology reaches up to 690 W in mass production, with AIKO announcing module efficiencies of up to 25.6%, while maintaining module dimensions similar to those of the previous generation.

But the evolution is not limited to large-format modules. AIKO is also expanding its new generation with 565 W modules in a 1954 mm format, solutions reaching up to 510 W in a 1762 mm format, and a new 500 W all-black Z Series specifically aimed at the premium residential market.

From the first ABC generation to INFINITE ULTRA G4

To understand the technological leap represented by this new generation, it is worth looking back at how AIKO’s ABC technology has evolved.

AIKO commercially launched its ABC technology roadmap in 2022 and has since progressively increased both module power and efficiency.

This evolution is not simply about increasing nominal power. With INFINITE ULTRA, AIKO has introduced improvements both at cell level and in the module design itself to achieve higher power by making better use of the available surface area.

What changes with the fourth-generation INFINITE ULTRA?

INFINITE ULTRA builds on the technological evolution developed by AIKO throughout previous generations of its ABC architecture. Based on this platform, the manufacturer has continued to focus particularly on two areas: cell efficiency and better utilisation of the module surface area.

Higher cell efficiency

According to AIKO, the average mass-production efficiency of its ABC cells increases from 27.2% to 27.4%.

The difference may appear small on paper, but advances in photovoltaic technology are often achieved through the combination of multiple incremental improvements. AIKO attributes approximately 5 W of additional module-level power to this increase.

The improvements highlighted by the manufacturer include optimisations to front-surface texturing, trench structure, tunnel oxide, hydrogenation processes and poly-Si layers.

 

More active surface area within the module

This is where the second major improvement comes into play.

AIKO states that it has reduced the area not occupied by cells by approximately 20% compared with the previous generation. This allows a greater proportion of the module surface to be used for photovoltaic generation.

According to the company, this optimisation can provide approximately another 7 W of additional power.

Reducing internal spacing also introduces new challenges related to insulation, moisture and lamination. AIKO highlights the use of a patented nanoscale insulating coating as one of the solutions introduced to maintain electrical insulation while reducing creepage distances.

The objective is particularly relevant for installers, engineering companies and EPCs: to increase the number of watts that can be installed per square metre without simply increasing the external dimensions of the module.

The reference currently representing the highest power level in the available G4 documentation belongs to the AIKO-A-MDE72Dw family, with configurations ranging from 665 to 690 W.

565 W in a module under two metres long

Large-format modules are not the only focus of this new generation.

One of the most interesting configurations for certain C&I applications is the AIKO-A-MCE60Dw family.

The range extends from 540 to 565 W with dimensions of 1954 × 1134 × 30 mm.

Its highest-power variant, the AIKO-A565-MCE60Dw, reaches an efficiency of 25.5% and has a declared weight of 27.1 kg.

AIKO’s technical documentation identifies this configuration as dual-glass monofacial.

Why is this format particularly interesting? It delivers power levels close to those of considerably larger modules while keeping the module length below two metres. In projects constrained by roof geometry or module layout, power density can become a particularly important factor.

Z Series: 500 W for the premium residential market

Unlike the higher-power variants intended for other segments, the new AIKO Z Series focuses on combining electrical performance and aesthetics within a residential module format.

AIKO presents this new family as a 500 W all-black module with a surface area of less than 2 m², developed using ABC technology.

The company structures the product proposition around four key concepts: Ultimate Black, Ultimate Power, Ultimate Reliability and Ultimate Fire Resistance.

500 W and 25% efficiency

The configurations currently available in the technical documentation reach 500 W and 25.0% efficiency, with dimensions of 1762 × 1134 × 30 mm.

What sets the new AIKO Z Series apart?

A truly all-black aesthetic

The Back Contact architecture itself offers a clear aesthetic advantage: electrical contacts are moved to the rear of the cell, leaving the front surface unobstructed.

With the Z Series, AIKO takes this concept even further with a uniform, fully black appearance, specifically targeting residential installations where module design and roof integration are also an important part of the project.

Up to 97% active surface area

According to AIKO, the Z Series uses ABC cells with an efficiency of 27.4% and achieves approximately 97% active module surface area.

This is a key factor behind its ability to reach 500 W and 25% module efficiency in less than 2 m².

The Z Series technical documentation also specifies a maximum degradation of 1% during the first year and 0.35% per year from year 2 through year 40.

Hotspot temperature below 100 °C

Safety also plays a prominent role in the positioning of the Z Series.

AIKO states that the module maintains a hotspot temperature below 100 °C and highlights several solutions designed to improve module safety and behaviour under potentially critical conditions.

More power per square metre: the direction of the new AIKO generation

The 690 W figure immediately attracts attention, but the real evolution of G4 should probably not be measured in watts alone.

AIKO’s technology strategy is moving towards higher power density through more efficient cells, better use of available surface area and different module formats designed to suit a wide range of projects.

The available G4 documentation already includes 690 W large-format modules, 565 W solutions under two metres long and configurations reaching up to 510 W in a 1762 mm format.

The new Z Series further expands this portfolio with 500 W, 25% efficiency, an all-black design and warranties of up to 40 years.
