Sungrow Compatibility Guide

Sungrow Compatibility Guide

In an installation with Sungrow inverters, choosing the right model is a key part of the project design. However, it is also essential to check which communication system, energy meter, battery or accessory is compatible with each device. This guide summarises the main compatibilities of Sungrow inverters for residential, hybrid and commercial installations, and serves as a starting point for correctly selecting the components of each solution.

RESIDENTIAL SINGLE-PHASE HYBRID INVERTERS

SH3.0RS, SH3.6RS, SH4.0RS, SH5.0RS and SH6.0RS

The Sungrow SH3.0RS, SH3.6RS, SH4.0RS, SH5.0RS and SH6.0RS inverters are part of Sungrow’s residential single-phase hybrid range. They are a suitable solution for homes with solar self-consumption and battery storage, both in new installations and in projects where an existing system needs to be expanded or adapted. This series offers nominal power ratings from 3 kW to 6 kW and includes 2 independent MPPTs and 1 string per MPPT, making it easier to design installations with different panel orientations.

In terms of batteries, this range works with compatible Sungrow Li-ion solutions, such as SBS050 or SBR064-196, depending on the project configuration. It also includes backup functionality with emergency mode switching in less than 10 ms, monitoring via iSolarCloud and real-time data refreshed every 10 seconds. Its IP65 protection rating makes it suitable for outdoor installations under adverse weather conditions, while its Plug & Play design significantly speeds up on-site installation.

In this range, communication is carried out via WiNet-S, included with the inverter. Energy metering must be configured according to the installation layout, with compatible meters such as S100, DTSU666, DTSU666-20 or iHomeManager, depending on the case. For installations with multiple units or retrofit configurations, it is advisable to review the full Sungrow compatibility table before defining the communication and metering system.

THREE-PHASE HYBRID INVERTERS

SH5.0RT-20, SH6.0RT-20, SH8.0RT-20 and SH10RT-20

The SH5.0RT-20, SH6.0RT-20, SH8.0RT-20 and SH10RT-20 range is designed for three-phase homes that require a more powerful hybrid solution, capable of managing higher energy consumption and working with compatible batteries. Its design allows solar self-consumption, storage and backup functionality to be integrated into a single device. It offers power ratings from 5 kW to 10 kW, a 13.5 A DC input compatible with current high-power modules and 2 independent MPPTs, making it easier to design PV arrays on roofs with different orientations.

One of its most practical advantages is that the WiNet-S and the DTSU666-20 meter, together with a 100A/333mV CT set, are included as standard, reducing the additional material required on site. This range is compatible with Sungrow SBR064-256 batteries, with one battery per inverter according to the compatibility table. It also includes an integrated EMS, free online monitoring, SG Ready compatibility and AC EV charger compatibility. In backup mode, it switches in less than 20 ms and allows configurations of up to 2 units in parallel via RS485 connection between inverters and a single meter for energy management.

SH5T, SH6T, SH8T, SH10T, SH12T, SH15T, SH20T and SH25T

This range represents Sungrow’s most advanced solution for residential three-phase and light commercial installations. It is designed for projects seeking a complete hybrid solution with self-consumption, battery storage and backup in a single device. The SH5T, SH6T, SH8T, SH10T and SH12T models cover power ratings from 5 kW to 12 kW, while the SH15T, SH20T and SH25T extend the range towards higher-power installations. Depending on the model, they include 2 or 3 MPPTs, support input currents adapted to current high-power photovoltaic modules and work with high-voltage Li-ion batteries in ranges from 150 V to 600 V for the SH5T-SH12T models and from 100 V to 700 V for the SH15T-SH25T models. They also include 50 A fast charging and discharging, improving the use of stored energy.

Its backup system is one of the key distinguishing features of this family: it includes an integrated 63 A bypass, allowing wider backup solutions to be considered for homes or small businesses, provided that the electrical design and installation loads are compatible. The transition to island mode takes place in less than 10 ms, ensuring a fast response in the event of grid outages. In addition, these inverters support unbalanced output both in grid mode and backup mode, making it easier to adapt them to real consumption patterns in three-phase installations. The range includes IP65 protection, communication via RS485, WLAN, Ethernet and CAN, and a design focused on simple installation and full integration within the Sungrow ecosystem.

In terms of compatibility, the SHxxT range can work with Sungrow SBR096-256 and SBH100-400 batteries, with the possibility of connecting up to 2 batteries per inverter via Y connector depending on the configuration. For projects with several units, the compatibility table distinguishes between configurations with WiNet-S2, COM100E/COM100D, Logger1000A-EU and iHomeManager, so it is advisable to review the specific layout before defining the communication, metering and energy management system.
